Polytechnic University of the Philippines, on its path to becoming a National Polytechnic University, supports CHED's push for higher education to shift from an instruction-centered paradigm to a learner-centered framework for industry-responsive curriculum by implementing blended learning.

The Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree has a strong emphasis on civic engagement and social responsibility, making it a fantastic subject of study for those who enjoy working with others. This curriculum also places a strong emphasis on moral judgment and moral conduct, preparing students to deal with the problems and difficulties that our diverse societies encounter. Completing this degree prepares students for positions in public administration and government that serve the needs of the public, as well as for managing advocacy campaigns and service delivery projects that promote social welfare.

Program Description

The MPA Program is a professional program that aims to develop public servants, leaders, and change agents with the advanced competencies, 21st-century skills, and values to serve as middle managers in government, civil society, and international organizations.

MPA prepares its graduates for supervisory positions in government, including the foreign service and civil society. Graduates of the program are eligible for officer or supervisory positions, which require advanced planning, analytical, and reportorial skills.

 

Program Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate an advanced understanding of the fundamentals of the study and practice of public administration and good governance.

  2. Harness strengths for public service imperatives and challenges in the context of Philippine and global realities;

  3. Practice firm ethical values for public service, as well as strict adherence to the principles of accountability, responsiveness, nationalism, and democracy;

  4. Practice a strong sense of responsibility to promote and protect public interest, especially for the depressed and marginalized communities;

  5. Exhibit advanced skills in management, including planning, implementation, monitoring, and human, material, and resource management for government and civil society organizations;

  6. Engage in advanced scientific policy, planning, and implementation research that is critical for local and national decision-making; and

  7. Display responsiveness and resiliency through enhanced life skills and multiple intelligences toward lifelong learning.

Job Targets

MPA graduates are now qualified for executive and policy-making positions in government, both elective and appointive, as well as executive and policy-making positions in citizen organizations. It is primarily designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to prepare them to operate effectively in a broad range of organizational positions. The program prepares its graduates for leadership, technical, and administrative positions in government, in the public, and in the governance sector, including international organizations and citizen groups and organizations.

Graduates now have the ability to analyze problems and develop solutions from a broad organizational perspective rather than from a narrow functional point of view. Officer or supervisory level in government, civil society organizations, or foreign service offices.
